Although Theresa May claims to be “protecting Brexit”, the strategy of rushing through a snap election should give Brexit voters huge cause for alarm. She is duplicating the strategy of Harold Wilson in 1975.
Ted Heath rushed us illegally into the EU in 1972, by not calling a Referendum. Three years later, Harold Wilson apparently set this right, but he turned the Ref. into a vote of confidence for the government which, like May, he knew he would win. He then took advantage of the innocent public by binding us further into the EU. It’s not a good start that May’s claim that the Tories are the party of Brexit is a lie. 172 Tories are Remainers, 50 more than Leavers. May herself is a Remainer, as is best pal Hammond and hubbie Phil, a hedge fund manager. So she will be the party of Remain not Leave.
The point of any election is to submit yourself to the scrutiny of voters. This is a vital part of any election and one we have a right to expect. Why then, as she always does, is May avoiding all debates? She has never fought for any issue in any election, including Brexit. She always hides away.
May is now standing in a GE for the highest position in the land, but arrogantly, she still avoids scrutiny. The only comment universally made about her is “I don’t know what to make of her!” Her nickname is “The Submarine”. Andrew Neil has never been allowed within ten miles.
May now claims to want “hard Brexit.” But this doesn’t fit in with the way she has tried to undermine the tougher Brexiteers from the word go. Oddly, rabid Remain supporters, like Tony Blair, David Cameron, Hammond, Sky News, the BBC, all seem overjoyed by the snap election.
Even EU chiefs immediately said: If May gets a huge mandate, that will by far get the best deal for Britain. The peculiar thing is they look starry eyed at the prospect! It is all very peculiar.
Leaders fight, out in the open for what they want. They is no doubt what they stand for! what She can sell out Brexit if she wants to! She can dump whatever sort of deal she wants onto us, because she soon she will be able to do what she likes.
