From the Left, not a word when Obama banned refugees

When Obama banned refugees for six months in 2011 for reasons of national security, the left fell silent.  Not a squeak from the Democrats, as Prez Obama did exactly what Donald Trump is doing now.obamaglobaln 2011 the US discovered Al-Qaeda terrorists living as refugees in Kentucky. They had entered the country as refugees.

As a result of this discovery the Obama administration blocked all Iraqi refugees from entering the US for six months.
There were no protests.
The left said nothing.

There is further evidence here.

The new President has made plain the ban is temporary, as was Obama’s,  he said the ban would last “until we know what the hell is going on. ”

Free movement has been a total disaster in Europe.  Boris Johnson, our Foreign Secretary is firmly pro immigration but believes it must be strictly controlled. The Theresa May statement was clearly issued in panic, and appallingly worded.  It would have been better if she left such statements to her Foreign Secretary.

n 2002, the United States admitted only 27,131 refugees. It admitted fewer than 50,000 in 2003, 2006, and 2007. As for President Obama, he was slightly more generous than President Bush, but his refugee cap from 2013 to 2015 was a mere 70,000, and in 2011 and 2012 he admitted barely more than 50,000 refugees himself.

A 2013 ABC News article reported, “The State Department stopped processing Iraq refugees for six months in 2011, federal officials told ABC News – even for many who had heroically helped U.S. forces as interpreters and intelligence assets.”

The network reported that, as a result, an “Iraqi who had aided American troops was assassinated before his refugee application could be processed, because of the immigration delays.” (One of the first men detained under Trump’s executive order, Hameed Darweesh, was an Iraqi interpreter for the U.S. military. He has now been released under an exemption in the order.)

One response to “From the Left, not a word when Obama banned refugees

  1. I find there’s is a lot of resistance to the claims regarding Obama’s policy – perhaps Facebook, or the BBC, could be induced to investigate them. This, on first view, seems to be the most solidly based information –
