Letter from Foreign Sec. Boris Johnson re. Mrs. Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe

There has been huge concern on twitter over the situation of Mrs. Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe, the British-Iranian mother accused of a plot to topple the Iranian government. Her family insist she is innocent.nazaninShe was convicted and sentenced to five years in prison in Iran.  Sadly for her family, her appeal failed.

After spending 10 months in solitary confinement Nazanin has now been moved to a unit for political prisoners. Her husband Richard Ratcliffe tells the Today programme that since she was moved there is “more fight in her” and she has ended her hunger strike.

Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson has issued a letter setting out the position of the Foreign Office.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard claimed in June that Ms Zaghari-Ratcliffe had participated in the “design and implementation of cyber and media projects to cause the soft toppling of the Islamic Republic”.  But her husband has branded the accusation as “crazy”.
