Women still being assaulted in Uber cabs! Sadiq Khan needs to act NOW!

It was George Osborne who took over the issue of minicabs and PHVs from Boris Johnson through the Secretary of State.   Since then rapes and assaults have soared, and the figures are being witheld from the public.sadiqkhan6In  TAXI magazine, new Mayor Sadiq Khan has said he will fight for minicabs to be capped, which is, in itself, commendable.  But talk is cheap.  Osbo is in charge, Sadiq can talk all he likes, will anything actually happen.

It turns out that the regulations Boris Johnson created and fought for are going to be implemented – but only for new cabs?  This is worse than useless.  There are already over a 1,000 licensed minicabs on the road.

Let’s cut all the bullshit and hit the bottom line.  It has long been suspected that Osbo did a deal with Uber boss Travis Kalanick and he will never cap minicabs, nor will he allow Uber cabs to be properly regulated as they should be. Maybe Sadiq should tackle Osbo about this, and get him to spit it out!  Did he do a deal or not?

Saying you “will fight for a cap on minicabs” is all very nice, but it’s just big  talk isn’t it Sadiq?  Cab drivers need action and they need it now.  If Osbo’s answer is NO, let’s hear it and admit he is jerking you around. That won’t be your fault, but at least our brave, trusted black cab drivers will know where they stand.

  1. The link with Uber is a blot of the reputation of George Osborne. There is no conceivable reason why Uber should be exempt from regulations that are there for the safety of women.
