Boris Johnson’s brave decision to refuse a top Cabinet job (possibly Foreign Secretary) in favour of the risky option to battle for Brexit has won over the Tory grassroots. Bojo has always been an outright winner with the public, the peoples’ choice, but until now, George Osborne has led with the grassroots. No longer. Maybe bribery, bullying and making threats not such a good idea after all.
Never averse to a fiddle, Cameron has another bit of dodgy dealing in mind. He secretly planned to get rid of 90 per cent of Tory associations which would smooth George Osborne’s coronation as leader, by nullifying the Shires. Cameron sees nothing wrong with such chicanery, just as he saw nothing wrong in the appalling way he lied to his MPs about his “good deal for Britain”.
It remains to be seen if the party agrees with him.
New YouGov poll shows Boris Johnson has twice as much Tory support as Osbo.
That’s a No for PM then.
