The EU Referendum campaign turned nasty yesterday. In appalling scenes at the House of Commons, the PM brushed aside the genuine concerns of a series of ashen faced MPs, pale because it was perfectly clear he was not treating their questions seriously. He also launched a coded personal attack on Boris. It was the day democracy died on national tv.In the Daily Mail today, Peter Oborne salutes Michael Gove and Boris Johnson for their brave and principled stand in coming out for Brexit.
Oborne says: “In the words of Mr Gove, ‘our membership of the European Union prevents us being able to change huge swathes of law and stops us being able to choose who makes critical decisions which affect all our lives.
‘Laws which govern citizens in this country are decided by politicians from other nations who we never elected and can’t throw out.’
And as Mr Johnson put it, Britain has not left the European Union. The EU has left us.The price that both these men will pay, says Oborne, is that they are now (particularly Boris) at the mercy of the mediocre Establishment second raters, who have always envied them. The PM and Osbo have already tried their utmost to hinder Boris’s career path , Osbo declaring “he will smash Boris in May!“
The prelude to the lurid scenes in the House of Commons was an orchestrated twitter attack on the Mayor and his motives. Peter Oborne is worried that dumping the Establishment means Boris and Gove should watch their backs!
Today we see the backlash in the media, most of whom came out to condemn the behaviour of the PM, but no worries! Bojo probably doesn’t give a damn. Boris has survived wave after wave of personal attacks and smear campaigns, his supporters get more upset for him that he does. What matters is getting the right result in the EU Referendum Who’s the best campaigner you ever saw? You’re looking at him!
