Trottie says no surrender but England still lose

The indefatigable Jonathan Trott scored 84 n.o. and would not be defeated.  Stalwart as ever, he dug in, but he battled in vain.  England lost again.  Since winning the Ashes, England are off the boil, and in the ODI’s, this was their third loss in a row.

This was not one of Trottie’s most distinguished innings.   He managed to get Strauss run out on 23, and after that, closed in on himself like a tortoise, as he sometimes does.  A lot of the time, it was like watching paint dry, because 40 of his 84 runs were singles. Trottie was stuck like a barnacle to his crease, but I find watching him is very soothing.  He survived, you had to give him that!

England 214 (Jonathan Trott 84no, Brett Lee 3-27) Australia 215 (David Hussey 67no, Brad Haddin 54). Australia won by four wickets

  1. Trott has just batted for another century in the 4th ODI, well done Trottie.

  2. I like Trottie as well. He is actually extremely entertaining to watch, with his nutty rituals and strong character.
