Ken Livingstone has made the bizarre decision to work as a paid presenter for Press TV, the state owned Iranian t.v. channel. According to Toby Young in the Daily Telegraph today, Press TV is “the Iranian regime’s English language propaganda arm.
Press TV was launched in 2007 by Iranian President and Holocaust denier Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and recently played an instrumental role in helping the Islamofascist regime blacken the name of Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani, the innocent woman who’s been sentenced to death-by-stoning for committing adultery. Last year, Press TV was exposed by Channel 4 News after it recorded the forced confession of a Newsweek journalist inside a Tehran prison”. Toby says he cannot see any difference between Ken and Lord Haw Haw.
Ken made few friends among the Jewish nation in 2006 when he was suspended for 4 months from the office of Mayor for comparing a Jewish reporter to “a Nazi concentration camp guard”. An Adjudication Panel ruled that Mr. Livingstone had brought the office of Mayor into disrepute and he was suspended for 4 months, pending a tribunal. However, Mr. Livingstone was exonerated by the judge, who ruled that as Mr. Livingstone had been off duty, he had brought himself into disrepute, but not the office of Mayor. Mr. Justice Collins remarked: “Surprising as it may perhaps appear to some, the right of freedom of speech does extend to abuse.”
Jewish and Gentile eyebrows were raised in October 2010, when Ken, against the wishes of the Labour Party, supported the candidacy in Tower Hamlets of controversial Islamist Lutfur Rahman. Mr. Livingstone campaigned openly by the side of Mr. Rahman, who swept to victory, giving new Labour leader Ed Miliband his first taste of defeat as party leader.
The London Standard reported at the time: “During the campaign, Mr Livingstone angered Labour activists by suggesting the party’s candidate Helal Abbas was not “credible or competent” and was forced to state he was only recommending voters give their second preferences to Mr Rahman. But several Labour MPs are furious at his conduct and frustrated that Mr Miliband has not reprimanded him. Just a month before the election, Mr Rahman was deselected after Mr Abbas submitted a dossier to the National Executive Committee, attacking his rival’s record as council leader and claiming he had been “brainwashed by extremists”. And now Ken Livingstone is working as a paid presenter for Press TV, prompting this response from Alan Aziz of the Zionist Federation UK.
Alan Aziz said it was a “disgrace” that Mr Livingstone had appeared on the channel. He added: “Press TV is the English language propaganda arm of the Iranian regime and if Livingstone aims to be the mayor of one of the most multicultural cities in the world that is populated by members of all faiths and sexualities, he should examine carefully the company that he keeps.”
As Mayor, Boris is Mayor of all Londoners (he attends religious ceremonies of all religions) and it is absolutely clear how deeply he believes this. Bland and self-justifying as ever, Ken seems incapable of understanding how any of the above activities would prevent him from challenging Boris and trying to win his job back. Whether Londoners will agree is another matter.
